Datawarrior not starting on manjaro [message #1955]

I am running manjaro 6.4.2-3 KDE plasma 5.27.6-1 with openjdk version "20.0.1" 2023-04-18.
After downloading the tar_gz and following the steps in the readme.txt I get the following errorcode upon launching datawarrior

execvp: Exec format error

unfortunately the error message does not give more than that.
