I'm unable to create a category filter for a column even though I have set the data type (to floating point) and checked 'forced categories'

I cannot reproduce this. You cannot create a category filter on a column if
- there are too many different categories inside that column
- there is already a category filter on the same column and 'Show duplicate filters' is not checked
