To be honest, I don't have a clue. If your MacBook Air contains an M1 processor, then it might be related to interpreting Intel processor code for the M1, because the launcher and the JRE are native Intel code. I don't have an M1 based Mac myself and can only speculate. Later this year I plan to acquire an M2 based machine and to package DataWarrior using an M1/M2 native JRE and launcher, but that will be a few months from now.
I don't think that this would solve the issue, but you could try to update the jre yourself by downloading and installing the newest Liberica for MacOS and then copy all jre files from there into the path that DataWarrior uses withion the DataWarrior.app folder: /Applications/DataWarrior.app/Contents/PlugIns/liberica-jdk- 8-full.jdk/Contents/Home/jre/
