Hi,

I have recently upgraded from DW472 to 521. DW 521 will not open. My laptop is running Window 10 Version 2004, and is an i7 with 16GB RAM.

I briefly get a blue spinning wheel, then nothing. I have removed and re-installed a few times and even reverted back to 472 but now neither work.

There is an application event log error generated

The app does not appear to be being blocked by the AV package, nor are there any pop-up errors or alerts.

Any help in resolving this would be very much appreciated.

As suggested in another post which appears to describe the same fault, I used the latest update from openmolecules.org/datawarrior/dw521win.zip

This does not run either, but it does generate a Windows Defender Smart Screen error. Even selecting Run Anyway does not get the application to launch.

I have also tried version 500, again it does not work.

I have another Windows 10 PC that still has DataWarrior 472 installed where I had not updated the application, but DataWarrior no longer runs on that PC either.

It does look like a Windows update or some other conflict has broken Data warrior.

solved - it appears that VMware Carbon Black was blocking the application process as it is from an unknown developer, and is not signed, and was calling other applications. It was not showing as blocked application, but it was the actions it carries out that are blocked which results in the application failing.
