Dear Thomas,

running the native installation of DW for Linux including the current update for version 05.08.00, there is the new folder `/opt/datawarrior/update` to support the new automatic update mechanism. Would it be possible to alter future versions of the update to either a) retain by default only the latest update, or b) to remove any .jar in this folder once the update has been completed?

To set the numbers in perspective, the two updates (05.07 and 05.08) already request 108 MO while the installer for Linux accounts for approx. 160 MO.

With regards,

Norwid

Dear Norwid,

what I had in mind was to remove old version, but to always keep the two or three newest ones. This way the user may delete, rename or move the newest jar(s) causing DataWarrior to start an older remaining version.

It didn't happen in the past, but there is a possibility that a new DataWarrior update introduces a bug that kills functionality crucial for many users.

Best wishes,

Thomas
